The summit of this local landmark offers amazing views. It's a 15- to 20-minute walk to the peak and the trail is well marked. This half-mile climb is mostly stairway. Rated "moderate" in difficulty, it is less strenuous than it might otherwise be, thanks to the many steps, plus benches along the way.

Sugarloaf Mountain is one of the most popular scenic overlooks on the central Upper Peninsula coastline.  The area consists of a 3,200 foot trail of pathway and stairway segments that lead to the mountain's summit 1,040 feet above Lake Superior.  There are viewing decks at the summit which provide spectacular views of the coastline and surrounding forests for miles.
There are two routes to the top: 1) Being quicker and a little more difficult then ... 2) Which is easier and includes more stairways and is a more relaxing way to the top. What I did and what I would recommend to others is take the short more difficult trail to the top and take the slower more relaxing way down. Made for a great loop in my book.
